Machu Picchu is one of those places that every single traveler should experience at least once in their lives…
This day after an early wake up you will take a ride by bus to the legendary “Lost City of the Incas.” This ancient city was a place little known not only to foreigners, but also to the Inca people—only a select few were ever allowed to visit this mysterious sanctuary. Even though it was “discovered” by Hiram Bingham in 1911, Machu Picchu remained inaccessible until the 1940s, when the Inca Trail was found by an archaeological expedition.
You will begin your expedition around this beautiful and sacred Incan site. Your expert guide will explain you the history and visit the remarkable temples of the Sun and the Condor. You will also see aqueducts and houses, while learning some interesting facts about the Sacred Incan Terraces You'll have ample time to explore, reflect, and ponder the enigma of this man-made wonder, both with our Trip Leader and on our own.
In the afternoon you will take the train back to Ollanta Train Station, and then we will transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.
